Out
Of Order

The Almighty Web Counter says that you are number:

Out of Order (the Theologian Records band) has officially broken up (disregard the previous message that was here--sincere apologies go to the original Out of Order on Victory Records, since they have actually been around since the early 80's and reformed recently). The band apologizes to their fans and regret that the tour that they were planning for a few summers ago didn't happen. You can still contact the band at the addresses below as well as still order merchandise.

For those of you keeping a close eye on this page, the summer '99 reunion shows unfortunately didn't happen.

New! Check out http://www.mp3.com/tripleo for Out of Order MP3's!!!

The Beginning...

Taken from the newsletter:
"Out of Order started in 1989 with basically none of the current members of O.O.O. in it, except for 2. They played in garages and SKA was the only word known around the band. It was strictly SKA. The name came when Shawn "Beaver" McCoy was in a shitter one day at a gas station and saw an OUT OF ORDER sign. The rest is history. Everything was cool until it seemed like a single show broke the band apart. O.O.O's 1st gig was at the Country Club with Roland Alfonso, Jump with Joey, and Donkey Show. Something happened and after the show the band was reduced to about 2 guys. From there the building process of O.O.O. would be a non-stop process for the next 3 years."

The two guys that were left after the first show were Beaver and Dave. They got Kurt Lane on bass, Dan Campbell on drums, and Brian Donnely on guitar. Mario and Toby met in a history class in their junior year at Mira Costa High School in Manhatten Beach. There were flyers around the school saying "OUT OF ORDER NEEDS HORN PLAYERS." A week earlier, Toby threw a party at his house and met Beaver there. They talked about Beaver's ska band needing horns, and Toby told Mario. Mario had played the sax for years with nothing to do with it, so he and Toby went to the practice. From then on (1990), they were in the band. Dan, Brian, and Kurt left, so they got another drummer, Josh Flink, and another guitar player, Shamen Houpt. Shamen eventually left for college, and the band got Ryan Faye to replace him plus Travis Fargher to fill in on bass. After the first half of their first album was recorded, the drummer was let go, and they got Justin Cobb (Mario and Toby met him in their English class at Santa Monica College) to step in. They had to teach Justin what ska was and how to play a punk beat, but he learned fast, and that's the history behind the members.

Out of Order albums:

Currently, they have three CD's out:

Self-titled
This is their first album which is on Theologian Records. It's mellower and has more funk than their second album, but it's still really cool.
Track Listing

Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
Out of Order's second album. Great stuff indeed! This CD has a remade version of "Chia Pet" (found on their first album) and a cool cover of an old Run DMC song. For the lyrics to this album, look no further than here.

Eye Caramba
Their third cd release. "Eye popping" ska-core! (heh, heh...alright, it was a lame joke, but I didn't make it up!)

They're also on these compilations:

Misfits of Ska-Dill Records
Generic Skaca-Stiff Dog Records
Flashing in the Pit (Japanese import)
California Ska-Quake 2: the Aftershock (Moon Ska NYC)

OOO Trivia:

Out of Order is the band that's playing in that old Airwalk commercial (and magazine ad) with the guy climbing the speakers and going splat when he dives off. (That's also their music playing in the background of the several other Airwalk commercials. Two of them were written specifically for the commercials and can't be found on any of their cds).

Also, look for their music in the CD-ROM game "Foxhunt."

If you happen to catch the movie "An American Vampire Story," look for them playing "Evolution" on a stage on the beach in some party scene (the movie stars B-movie king Adam West of Batman fame!).

They're in a Southern California ska/punk scene video documentary called "Black and White and Red All Over." It features Out of Order, Melting Pot, the Hippos, Mealticket, and Tazy Phillips, and its put out by Cattle Prods.

Last but not least, if you see the Descendents video for the song "I'm the One," they used Out of Order's equipment in it, and Mario, Beaver, Ryan, and their roadie Johnnie are in the crowd shots! Plus, you can check out Mario and Ryan in the "health clinic" scenes donating sperm!
